Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq finally opened his goal account for the season in emphatic fashion as Valencia CF claimed a comfortable 2–0 win over Levante UD in their La Liga clash on Sunday.
The encounter at the Mestalla was a tightly contested affair in the opening 45 minutes, with both sides cancelling each other out in midfield and struggling to create clear-cut chances. Valencia dominated possession but found it difficult to break down a disciplined Levante defence, sending the teams into the interval locked at 0–0.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 64th minute when Largie Ramazani produced a moment of quality to put Valencia ahead. The winger showed composure inside the box to finish clinically, lifting the pressure off the hosts and energising the home crowd.
With Levante pushing forward in search of an equaliser, spaces began to open up, and Valencia took full advantage late in the game. Six minutes from time, Sadiq made his mark, calmly dispatching his chance to double the lead and put the result beyond doubt. The goal was a significant moment for the Nigerian forward, who had been eager to get off the mark this season.
Sadiq’s strike not only sealed all three points but also underlined his growing importance to Valencia’s attacking setup. The forward initially arrived at the club on loan from Real Sociedad last season, where his performances quickly won over the Valencia faithful. After impressing during his temporary spell, the club moved swiftly to secure his services on a permanent basis.
Sunday’s goal could prove to be a turning point for Sadiq’s campaign, as Valencia look to build momentum and climb the La Liga standings with renewed confidence and attacking firepower.
