Tolu Arokodare open to permanent move to Ajax

Nigerian international Tolu Arokodare has expressed his willingness to join Ajax on a permanent deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers, admitting that he is enjoying life in Amsterdam following his impressive performance in Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League victory over Atalanta.

The 24-year-old forward was instrumental in Ajax’s 2-0 win, scoring the opening goal in the 87th minute before providing the assist for Abdellah Ouazane’s stoppage-time strike to seal all three points for the Dutch giants.

Arokodare joined Ajax from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a loan deal running until the summer of 2027, with the agreement including an option for the Amsterdam-based club to make his stay permanent.

His latest performance has further strengthened his position at the club, with the Nigerian forward continuing to demonstrate his quality and attacking influence since arriving in the Netherlands.

Speaking after the match, the Nigerian attacker initially declined to make any definitive statement about a possible permanent transfer, insisting that discussions regarding his future would be left to the two clubs.

“That’s between Ajax and Wolves; I can’t say anything about it,” Arokodare said.

However, when pressed on whether he would be interested in remaining in Amsterdam beyond his loan spell, the forward made his position clear, expressing his affection for the club and the people around him.

“Of course I’m open to it. I love it here. I love being here. The people are amazing, the fans are amazing, the team is amazing, the club is amazing, and you’re all amazing. But William is even nicer,” he joked.

His comments suggest that Arokodare would welcome the opportunity to turn his temporary stay into a permanent arrangement, although any potential deal will depend on negotiations between Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The forward’s immediate focus will be on maintaining his impressive form and helping Ajax achieve their objectives across domestic and European competitions.

With his latest contribution against Atalanta highlighting his ability to influence important matches, Arokodare will hope to continue making a strong impression as he looks to secure his long-term future in Amsterdam.
