Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine form in front of goal on Sunday, scoring to power Celtic to a 3-2 victory against Motherwell in their Scottish Premiership.

The result ended Brendan Rodgers’ side’s three-match winless streak and brought them within two points of second-placed Hearts in the league standings.

Iheanacho, who joined Celtic on a free transfer in the summer, opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 27th minute, his third goal of the season for the Hoops. However, Motherwell responded five minutes before halftime when Apostolos Stamatelopoulos equalised to make it 1-1 at the break.

The Nigerian striker restored Celtic’s advantage in the 55th minute, once again converting from the spot after Tawanda Maswanhise was brought down in the box.

Motherwell refused to back down, levelling the score through Benjamin Nygren in the 69th minute. But Celtic’s persistence paid off in stoppage time, as Daizen Maeda netted a dramatic late winner to seal all three points for the home side.

Iheanacho’s composed performance and clinical finishing once again highlighted his growing importance in Brendan Rodgers’ attacking setup as Celtic push to reclaim their momentum in the title race.

He is currently one of the in-form attackers in the Scottish Premier League.
