Nigeria forward Joshua Chinonso begins new chapter with CS Unirea Santana
Nigeria centre-forward Joshua Chinonso has joined Romanian club CS Unirea Santana on a free transfer, completing the move on 25 August 2026.
Chinonso, 20, arrives after a period away from his former club, Shooting Stars, whom he left in July 2025. The forward had joined the Nigerian side from Shooting Stars’ Under-19 team in July 2024.
The move to CS Unirea Santana represents Chinonso’s first recorded switch outside Nigeria. He has been registered as a centre-forward and will continue his career in Romania after progressing through the ranks at Shooting Stars.
Chinonso was born on 28 April 2006 and is a Nigerian national. His arrival gives CS Unirea Santana a young attacking player as the club prepares for the 2026-27 season.
He joined Shooting Stars’ senior setup after spending time with the club’s Under-19 team. His move to the Romanian side follows his departure from Shooting Stars and is not subject to a transfer fee.
The transfer was completed on 25 August, with Chinonso now listed as a CS Unirea Santana player. No contract expiry date has been announced for the forward.
Chinonso’s recorded playing position is centre-forward, placing him at the head of the attack for his new club. His career history includes appearances in Nigerian football with Shooting Stars and a previous association with the club’s Under-19 side.
The Nigerian joins CS Unirea Santana as a free agent and becomes the latest stage of a career that began in youth football before moving into the senior game. The 2026-27 season will mark his first recorded campaign with the Romanian club.
Joshua Chinonso has therefore completed his free transfer to CS Unirea Santana.
