The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) proudly announces Finidi George as the newest head coach of Nigeria, effective immediately.

The former Super Eagles star, who previously assisted predecessor Jose Peseiro for twenty months, has officially signed a contract that will last for a minimum of two years.

The highly-anticipated event was graced by esteemed guests such as John Enoh, Minister of Sports Development, Ibrahim Gusau, president of the NFF, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, NFF General Secretary, and Mrs Tinuke Watti, Secretary for the Ministry of Sports Development.

George, renowned for his impressive performance as a player in the 1994 AFCON-winning Nigeria squad, has been given the crucial task of leading Nigeria to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

In addition, he is also expected to guide the team to victory in the 2025 AFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco next year.

The former Ajax star was in
charge of the Super Eagles on an interim basis during the last international break in March, where he guided the team against Ghana and Uganda in international friendlies.
