Nigeria: Eric Chelle to drop CLUBLESS Stanley Nwabali ahead of Jordan and Iran friendlies

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle is reportedly preparing to leave goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali out of the squad for next month’s friendly fixtures.

Nwabali, who spent over three years at Chippa United, parted ways with the club earlier this month and is currently without a team.

Since his departure, rumours have linked him to clubs in Tanzania and the United States, but no deal has been finalised.

Reports suggest that his prolonged absence from competitive action will likely cost him a spot in the national team for March, with Nwabali listed among five players expected to be omitted by Chelle for the upcoming international window.

Following their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles are scheduled to face Jordan and Iran later in March.

Meanwhile, the squad could welcome a new face in goal, with Arthur Okonkwo reportedly cleared by FIFA to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.

The 24-year-old, a product of the Arsenal system, is said to have confirmed his commitment to the Super Eagles in a meeting with Chelle in London last year.
