Nigeria international Igoh Ogbu is set for another spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during the Champions League final group phase game between Pafos FC and Slavia Prague on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old centre-back was forced off shortly after the hour mark, with Daiki Hashioka replacing him as his outfit succumbed to a 4-1 away defeat to Pafos.
Ogbu had struggled with a persistent hamstring problem earlier in the season, raising doubts about his availability for the Africa Cup of Nations. However, the defender recovered in time to join Nigeria’s squad for the continental showpiece.
The enterprising defender went to feature three times for the Super Eagles at the AFCON tournament in Morocco, with the West African football heavyweights finishing third at the end of the tournament.
The setback follows a similar injury that ruled him out for three months and is now facing another spell in the sidelines with the latest setback.
The Nigeria international has been limited to nine appearances across competitions for the Czech Republic outfit this season.
