Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, South Africa and 6 others qualify for 2026 WAFCON in Morocco

Ten nations have officially booked their places at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), to be hosted in Morocco, after successfully navigating the qualification rounds.

Reigning champions Nigeria secured their qualification with a 3-1 aggregate win over Benin. The Super Falcons were held to a 1-1 draw in the second leg but advanced comfortably thanks to their 2-0 victory in the first leg.

Ghana also sealed their spot in emphatic fashion, completing a 7-0 aggregate win over Egypt, while South Africa, the 2022 champions, continued their dominance with a convincing qualification campaign.

East African representatives Tanzania and Kenya made history by qualifying, underlining the region’s fast-rising status in women’s football. Malawi, Algeria, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, and Senegal have also confirmed their places in the tournament.
