Nicolas Sarkozy, a devoted supporter of Paris Saint-Germain and having close ties with Qatari leaders, particularly Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, reportedly harbors a desire to lead the club in the French capital, according to L’Express. However, Al-Khelaïfi swiftly and diplomatically dismissed any notion of Sarkozy taking over the reins.
Reacting to the speculations, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi stated, “I think that Nicolas Sarkozy has already shown that he has the stature to occupy much higher positions than those of president of Paris-Saint-Germain.” He then went on to discuss his own role and status in Qatari politics, emphasizing that his position as the president of PSG would remain unchanged.
“There is no upheaval in my life. My name is still Nasser. This rank of minister is an honor given to me by His Highness the Emir. On a daily basis, I will remain the president of PSG. Nothing will change,” affirmed Al-Khelaïfi, making it clear that no external figure, not even a former President of the Republic, would displace him from his role at PSG.
