Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson has voiced his frustration over constant comparisons to Chelsea icon Didier Drogba, insisting he has a long journey ahead before matching such a legacy.
Signed by Chelsea from Villarreal on June 30, 2023, for £32 million, Jackson joined the Blues on an eight-year deal through 2031. He debuted on August 13 in a 1–1 Premier League draw against Liverpool and scored his first Chelsea goal on August 25, 2023, in a commanding 3–0 victory over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge.
Since then, the 23-year-old has become one of the Premier League’s rising stars, notching seven goals in 12 league appearances this season. Impressively, he reached the 20-goal milestone for Chelsea in just 44 games, six fewer than Drogba.
Despite his success, Jackson remains grounded. According to The Daily Mail, the striker acknowledges Drogba as a “legend” and downplays his own status, calling himself a “nobody” in comparison.
Jackson will lead Chelsea’s attack in their league game against Aston Villa on December 1st.
