Nicolas Jackson scores as Bayern Munich overpower Atalanta in Champions League tie

Nicolas Jackson scored his third goal in the UEFA Champions League as Bayern Munich produced a commanding 6-1 victory over Atalanta BC in the first leg of their round-of-16 clash on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The Senegal international played a key role in the emphatic result, scoring Bayern’s fourth goal of the evening and later providing the assist for Jamal Musiala to add the sixth.

The victory leaves the German side in a strong position ahead of the return leg.

Jackson’s contribution came early in the second half.

Making his third start in this season’s Champions League campaign, the forward struck in the 52nd minute after being set up by Luis Díaz.

The pass placed him in an ideal position and the striker finished confidently, leaving the Atalanta goalkeeper with little chance and extending Bayern’s lead on the night.

The goal marked Jackson’s third in Europe’s premier club competition and ended a lengthy wait for another strike in the tournament.

His previous Champions League goal had come on 22 October 2025 against Club Brugge KV.

Before that, his first goal in the competition was recorded on 30 September 2020 against Pafos FC.

Tuesday’s finish therefore added another milestone to the striker’s growing record in European football.

The performance also reflected a period of renewed confidence for the Bayern forward.

Jackson has started three matches in the Champions League campaign and appears to be gaining the trust of his coaching staff with increasingly influential displays.

His latest strike follows another goal scored in the league only days earlier, meaning the forward has now found the net in two consecutive matches across all competitions.

That run of form suggests the striker is beginning to build momentum during an important stage of the season for Bayern.

While opportunities have been limited, the Senegalese international has continued to contribute when called upon.

Across all competitions this season, Jackson has made 24 appearances for Bayern Munich and scored two goals.

His decisive role in the emphatic win against Atalanta, however, underlines his potential influence as the club continues its pursuit of success in European competition.
