Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau: Canada-Mauritius forward leaves Galway United to become free agent
Canada-Mauritius centre-forward Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau has left Galway United and become a free agent after his contract with the Irish Premier Division side came to an end.
The 24-year-old attacker, who joined Galway United in January 2026, departs the club with his market value currently assessed at around €125,000. His exit ends a short spell in Ireland following his move from Major League Soccer side Vancouver.
Fleuriau Chateau, born in Ottawa, Ontario, operates primarily as a central striker and is right footed. Standing at 1.78m, he has built his reputation across North America and Scandinavia, featuring in MLS, MLS Next Pro and the Finnish Veikkausliiga.
Before arriving in Ireland, he spent time on loan at Finnish top-flight club VPS from Vancouver during the 2024-25 campaign. That stint followed his progression through the Vancouver system, including a spell with second-team side Whitecaps 2 after being drafted from college side Red Storm in late 2023.
His most productive run in front of goal so far came in MLS Next Pro, where he scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 25 appearances, averaging a goal roughly every two games. In Finland’s Veikkausliiga, he added four goals and two assists in 20 league outings, as well as three goals in three Suomen Cup matches.
Fleuriau Chateau is now unattached following his departure from Galway United on 14 July 2026.
