Nicola Pepe applauds Ademola Lookman’s instant impact at Atletico Madrid
Villarreal and Ivory Coast forward Nicolas Pepe has lauded Ademola Lookman for his remarkable start at Atletico Madrid following his January move.
The Nigerian international arrived from Atalanta and has wasted little time settling into life in Spain, emerging as a key figure in Diego Simeone’s setup.
Lookman has already netted six goals across all competitions, underlining his importance to the team’s attacking play.
Pepe did not hold back in his admiration for the forward’s swift adaptation and influence.
“What a player! Within two months, he won everyone over… he’s a top, top, top player,” he said, pointing to Lookman’s ability to make an immediate impression at one of Europe’s elite clubs.
Lookman’s form will be under the spotlight once again as Atletico Madrid prepare to face Arsenal in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium.
With a place in the final at stake, the 26-year-old is expected to play a pivotal role as Atletico look to overturn the tie, with his pace and direct style offering a major threat to Arsenal’s defence.
