Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has shared his views on the fastest wingers in football during an interview with the official Europa League account.
In a series of comparisons, the Spanish international of Ghanaian descent evaluated both current and former players known for their speed.
He confidently selected himself over Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma and French star Franck Ribéry. However, when matched against Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, Williams conceded, acknowledging Sané’s superior speed.
The discussion also included his brother, Iñaki Williams, who outpaced Argentina’s Ángel Di María, Belgium’s Eden Hazard, and Spain’s Iker Muniain in these comparisons.
Yet, when Iñaki was pitted against Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Nico Williams favored the Liverpool forward, highlighting Salah’s remarkable pace.
Further comparisons saw Williams choosing Salah over South Korean forward Son Heung-min. However, when it came to selecting between Salah and Spanish winger Adama Traoré, Williams did not hesitate to choose Traoré, repeatedly emphasizing his choice by saying: “Adama, Adama, Adama.”
Traoré, currently playing for Fulham, is widely regarded as one of the fastest players in football history.
