Nick Akoto: Eastleigh sign French-Ivorian right-back from Burton Albion on free transfer
French-Ivorian defender Nick Akoto has joined Eastleigh from Burton Albion on a free transfer as the National League side move to strengthen their options at right-back.
The 27-year-old arrives after leaving League One club Burton, making the step down a division to link up with the Spitfires ahead of the new campaign. The move is a permanent deal following the end of his time with the Staffordshire outfit.
Akoto, who is comfortable operating on the right side of defence, adds senior experience to an Eastleigh squad competing in the fifth tier of English football. His switch also represents a notable acquisition from a club two divisions higher in the pyramid.
Burton Albion, where Akoto had most recently been on the books, spent last season in League One, while Eastleigh continue to push for progress in the National League. The transfer was completed on 13 July 2026.
Akoto’s current market value is listed at around €100,000, underlining Eastleigh’s ability to secure a player with EFL experience without paying a transfer fee.
The right-back’s move from Burton Albion to Eastleigh is confirmed as a free transfer.
