Having left OGC Nice during the winter transfer window for Olympique de Marseille, Mario Balotelli will face his former teammates this Sunday in the 28th matchday of Ligue 1, including defender Malang Sarr.
When asked about the Italian striker of Ghanaian origin at a press conference, Sarr didn’t hold back.
“He’s eager to make a strong start wherever he goes. He’s doing well in Marseille, and that’s good for him,” Sarr said, his tone tinged with bitterness. “But he’s no longer a Nice player, and honestly, I’m indifferent to his start there. When a player decides not to fully integrate, not to be part of the project, it’s a problem. What he did is a shame, but it’s his decision. He’s still a former teammate, nothing more.”
Tensions could flare when the two meet on the pitch, as emotions over Balotelli’s departure remain raw.
