Malian right-back Diacko Fofana from Nice has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee during a training session, as announced by Claude Puel, the general coach of OGC Nice. The 18-year-old player, who had recently shown promise, will undergo surgery in the coming days, and the recovery is expected to take several months. Fofana had entered the game in Nice’s match against Valenciennes last Saturday but now faces an extended period on the sidelines, estimated to be around six months. Additionally, center forward Xavier Pentecôte, who also underwent cruciate ligament surgery in December 2011, is expected to rejoin Nice for training in September.
