Nice beat Brest in dramatic finish as Mohamed Abdelmonem impresses

Nice came from behind to defeat Brest 2-1 in a dramatic Ligue 1 match, with Mohamed Abdelmonem playing the full game.

Brest took the lead in the 15th minute when Ludovic Ajorque capitalised on a serious error by Nice goalkeeper Yevann Diouf.

Nice levelled after 61 minutes through Elye Wahi, who converted from inside the six-yard box to bring his side back into the contest.

Sofiane Diop then completed the turnaround in the 83rd minute, finding the net with a shot from inside the 18-yard area.

The late drama continued in the seventh minute of added time when Brest were awarded a penalty after Ibrahim Kante was brought down. Kenny Lala took responsibility for the spot-kick, but Diouf saved it to secure Nice’s first away victory of the season.

Abdelmonom was one of the standout performers and recorded 12 defensive contributions, the highest total by any player from either side during the match.

The victory lifted Nice to 11 points and eighth place in the Ligue 1 table, moving them above Brest.

Brest remain on nine points in 11th position.
