Baky Koné Returns to France, Training with Nice Reserves
Former Ivory Coast international Baky Koné has returned to France as he seeks to revive his football career. The 32-year-old striker, well known for his spells at OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille, has begun training with the reserve team of Nice, commonly known as the Aiglons.
Koné, who has been without a club following a recent stint in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, is using this opportunity to regain fitness and form. His return to France marks a significant step as he looks to re-establish himself in European football.
Between 2005 and 2009, Koné made a notable impact at Nice, scoring 29 goals for the Côte d’Azur club. His performances during that period earned him recognition in Ligue 1, where he was known for his pace and striking ability.
After leaving Nice, Koné had spells with other clubs including Olympique de Marseille, but his career has recently been marked by shorter contracts and moves abroad, most recently in the UAE. Now, back on familiar ground, he hopes consistent training with the Aiglons’ reserves will open doors for a return to competitive football at a higher level.
At 32, Koné’s experience could be valuable to teams seeking an attacking player with knowledge of French football and international experience. As he works to regain match fitness, many will watch to see if he can recapture the form that made him a standout striker in Ligue 1.
