Caen’s N’Golo Kanté Valued at Up to €10 Million Amid Marseille Interest
Stade Malherbe de Caen are bracing for the departure of their standout midfielder, N’Golo Kanté, with negotiations reportedly well underway — particularly with Olympique de Marseille.
The 24-year-old Malian international, who has enjoyed a breakout season in Ligue 1, is now the subject of serious interest from top French clubs, with Marseille leading the race for his signature. According to Caen manager Patrice Garande, the Normandy club has accepted that it may not be able to hold on to its rising star.
“He does indeed have a release clause,” Garande told reporters. “French clubs are keen on him. Negotiations have already started with our president. Now, it’s up to the player to choose — all three parties must agree.”
While the exact amount of the release clause has not been made public, Garande hinted at a valuation range: “His value? Let’s say between €5 million and €10 million. He has an international future. He’s exceptional.”
Kanté, who has recently committed to representing Mali at the international level, has attracted attention not only for his incredible work rate and ball recovery, but also for his ability to drive transitions and link defence to attack seamlessly. His performances have been vital in Caen’s campaign, and his departure would be a major blow to the club’s midfield setup.
With Marseille looking to rebuild and reinforce ahead of the new season, Kanté fits the profile of a dynamic and disciplined midfielder — and they appear ready to move swiftly.
For Kanté, a step up to a bigger club could also boost his international exposure and further solidify his reputation as one of the most promising midfielders emerging from Ligue 1. As the summer transfer window nears, his future will be one to closely monitor.
