NGOLO KANTÉ OPENS DOOR TO PLAYING FOR MALI
One of the standout performers of the Ligue 1 season, N’Golo Kanté of Stade Malherbe de Caen has officially expressed openness to representing Mali at international level.
Courted previously by the Eagles, the dynamic midfielder—known for his incredible stamina and ball-winning ability—has so far focused on adapting to top-flight football. But now, with a full season under his belt, Kanté is considering the international stage more seriously.
“I plan to play for Mali in the medium term. I’ve already been asked to play this season, but as I was discovering Ligue 1 this year, I wanted to focus on my club and not think about the national team,”

This news will undoubtedly interest Alain Giresse, Mali’s head coach, who is preparing his squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, starting with a key match against Sudan on June 12.
Should Kanté commit to Mali, it would be a major addition for the national team, potentially forming a strong midfield axis for years to come.
