The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially announced that registration for the upcoming CAF B-Licence coaching course will close at midnight on Tuesday, 25 February 2025.
The four-month programme, scheduled to run from April to August 2025, is designed to elevate the standards of coaching in Nigeria and better equip coaches for the evolving demands of modern football.
The course, overseen by NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen, targets both male and female coaches, offering them the opportunity to advance their skills and knowledge.
Eguavoen emphasized that the programme is crucial for developing the next generation of elite coaches in Nigeria.
“This course is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Nigerian coaches to prepare them for present and future challenges in the game,” Eguavoen stated. “It’s about giving our coaches the tools they need to compete at the highest levels.”
Comprehensive Curriculum with a Clear Vision
The CAF B-Licence course is part of the Confederation of African Football’s tiered coaching certification system, with the B-Licence serving as a crucial step for coaches aspiring to manage professional teams and national sides.
The four-month curriculum will cover tactical analysis, player management, sports psychology, and modern training methodologies, all under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The NFF has set strict entry requirements to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold a valid CAF C-Licence.
- Be actively involved in coaching.
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Possess basic computer skills and have access to a personal laptop.
- Maintain a valid Gmail account for official communication.
- Submit a recent medical certificate confirming physical and mental fitness.
Eguavoen highlighted the importance of these criteria, noting that the course demands both academic engagement and physical participation.
High Demand Prompts Early Deadline
The decision to close registration earlier than initially planned comes after overwhelming interest from the coaching community.
Eguavoen revealed that the NFF received a surge in inquiries following the success of previous coaching programmes, including the CAF C-Licence course exclusively held for female coaches last year.
“Due to the high demand and the success we saw with the women’s CAF C-Licence course in 2024, we felt it necessary to adjust the registration deadline,” Eguavoen explained.
“We had 30 female coaches participate last year, many of whom were former Nigerian internationals. It was inspiring to see their commitment to the game, and we want to build on that momentum.”

The NFF remains committed to fostering inclusivity in football coaching across Nigeria. The federation has consistently worked to provide equal opportunities for both male and female coaches, a goal further reinforced by the gender-inclusive nature of the CAF B-Licence course.

“The more qualified coaches we have, the better our teams will perform at all levels. This is not just about today but about securing the future of Nigerian football,” he said.
