Despite being linked with moves to Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, Neymar seems hesitant to make a permanent move to Europe. The Brazilian star from Santos has been a long-time target for major European clubs, but he has consistently expressed his commitment to his current contract.
Responding to recent rumors about a potential transfer to FC Barcelona, Neymar personally addressed the speculation in an interview with El Mundo Deportivo. He stated, “I know nothing about Barcelona. I was placed there, another day in Madrid, but I have a contract with Santos until 2014. It’s the only reality I know. My dream is to play in Europe, but there is a right time for everything.”
Neymar humorously suggested that the only way he could currently play alongside Lionel Messi would be if Messi came to Santos. He quipped, “It’s possible if we sell half the city.”
Regarded on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Neymar is a coveted player for major European teams. However, Santos is unwilling to release him before the 2014 World Cup, and Neymar himself has consistently stated his preference to remain in Brazil. Despite these declarations, European teams continue to express interest in signing the talented forward.
