Following his involvement in a hit-and-run road accident, Mbaye Niang was taken into police custody on Thursday at the Montpellier police station. The 19-year-old footballer was summoned to provide explanations regarding the incident that occurred on Sunday.
After being questioned by investigators, Niang was referred to the criminal court. He is expected to face charges for endangering the lives of others, hit-and-run, and driving despite having his license canceled, as reported by a source close to the investigation cited by AFP.
Although Niang initially denied being behind the wheel on his Twitter account, he later admitted to driving his car at the time of the incident. According to reports from L’Équipe, the AC Milan loanee could be released later in the evening.
