Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa Set for Summer Exit from Newcastle
French international defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa may be on his way out of Newcastle United just 18 months after his arrival. According to reports from Topmercato.com, the Magpies’ management has deemed the 25-year-old surplus to requirements, with manager Alan Pardew no longer counting on him for next season.
Yanga-Mbiwa, who joined Newcastle from Montpellier in January 2013, has struggled to fully establish himself in the Premier League. Despite showing promise during his time in Ligue 1, the Central African-born player has found consistency hard to come by in England and could now be headed for a return to France.
Sources close to the player suggest he would welcome a move back to Ligue 1, where he built his reputation and helped Montpellier win the French title in 2012. With several French clubs reportedly monitoring his situation, Yanga-Mbiwa could soon be offered a route back to familiar ground as he looks to revive his career away from St James’ Park.
