Newcastle weigh move for Stuttgart’s Morocco international Bilal El Khannouss

Moroccan-Belgian attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss is being linked with a move from Stuttgart to Newcastle in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has a reported market value of €35m, while the likelihood of the proposed transfer is listed at 32%. El Khannouss is under contract with Stuttgart until 30 June 2030.

He joined the Bundesliga club permanently from Leicester on 1 July 2026 for a reported €15m, after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Stuttgart. His move came after Leicester had signed him from Genk for €22.5m in August 2024.

El Khannouss has made one appearance for Stuttgart this season, featuring in the DFB-Pokal. He also played in all six of Morocco’s matches at the 2026 World Cup, starting each game and recording 82% of the available minutes.

The midfielder was part of Morocco’s Africa Cup of Nations-winning side in 2025. He also won the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco in 2023 and claimed an Olympic bronze medal with the country’s under-23 team in 2024.

El Khannouss began his senior career at Genk after progressing through the Belgian club’s youth system, having previously been with Anderlecht’s academy. He has returned to Stuttgart for the 2026-27 campaign, where he wears the number 11 shirt and remains contracted through the end of the 2029-30 season.
