Newcastle United cools interest in Nicolas Jackson

Newcastle United have distanced themselves from a summer move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, despite recent speculation linking the Senegalese forward with a switch to St James’ Park.

According to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, the 24-year-old is not on Newcastle’s shortlist as they assess other centre-forward options.

“Newcastle United are not currently interested in signing striker Nicolas Jackson. His name has not been mentioned in recruitment meetings at this stage. They have other striker targets for the summer though,” Edwards reported, effectively shutting down talk of an approach. Jackson is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and is due to return to Chelsea at the end of the season, with the London club prepared to find him a new home unless their next permanent manager decides otherwise.

However, reports in Germany claim Bayern coach Vincent Kompany is pushing internally for Jackson to stay in Bavaria for at least another year, believing he can still be an asset with the right tactical setup and continuity. That stance could complicate Chelsea’s plans and adds another twist to the striker’s uncertain future ahead of a pivotal summer window.
