Newcastle monitoring Senegal’s Lamine Camara ahead of summer window

Newcastle United FC are showing strong interest in signing midfielder Lamine Camara, who is currently playing for AS Monaco.

The Senegal international joined the Ligue 1 side in the summer of 2024 after completing a move from FC Metz in a deal reported to be worth around €15 million.

Since arriving in Monaco, the 22-year-old midfielder has quickly established himself as a regular member of the squad. His consistent displays and growing influence in midfield have helped him secure an important role within the team.

Camara’s performances have come under the guidance of coach Sébastien Pocognoli, with the player becoming a key part of the side’s midfield structure during the current campaign.

Interest in the midfielder is now emerging from England. According to reports from The i Paper, Newcastle United have been closely tracking Camara’s progress for several weeks.

The Premier League club are said to be considering a move for the player during the upcoming summer transfer window as they continue to monitor his development in France.

If such interest develops into a formal offer, Camara’s future at Monaco could become uncertain despite his relatively recent arrival at the club.

The midfielder remains under contract with the Principality side until June 2029, a deal that reflects Monaco’s long-term plans for the player.

However, strong performances this season have increased his profile and attracted attention from clubs beyond France. According to the football statistics platform Transfermarkt, Camara’s current market value is estimated at around €30 million.

During the current campaign, the midfielder has made 23 appearances across all competitions for Monaco. Among those matches are six appearances in the UEFA Champions League, where he has gained valuable experience at the highest level of European club football.

In addition to his appearances, Camara has also provided three assists during the season, contributing to the team’s attacking play from midfield.

With interest from Newcastle reportedly growing and the summer transfer window approaching, the coming months could prove important in determining whether Camara remains in Monaco or moves on to a new challenge.
