New Wydad AC head coach Patrice Carteron brings in fresh coaching staff
French tactician Patrice Carteron has begun his tenure at Wydad Athletic Club with sweeping changes to the club’s technical structure, bringin in a new backroom staff following his recent appointment.
The French coach has opted to assemble his own team, bringing in compatriot Johan Deran to oversee physical preparation as part of a broader overhaul aimed at redefining the club’s technical direction.
Carteron has also turned to Fernando Ribeiro, who is set to take up the role of first assistant, while the club is still expected to confirm the identity of a second assistant coach in the coming days.
In addition, Rogerio Malreio is reportedly in line to handle goalkeeping duties, completing what appears to be a largely new-look technical bench.
These changes signal the likely departure of several members of the previous coaching setup that worked under Mohamed Amine Benhachem. Staff members, including Ibrahim Nakach, Abdel Samad El Ouard, and goalkeeping coach Zouhair Laaroubi, are all expected to leave the club as Carteron implements his vision.
Wydad officially confirmed Carteron’s appointment on Tuesday evening, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Red Club as they look to rebuild and compete at the highest level.
