New decision by Egypt football association following Salah, El-Shennawy, and Imam Ashour’s setback

New decision by Egypt football association following Salah, El-Shennawy, and Imam Ashour's setback

The Egyptian national team in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, football authorities have taken an unprecedented step – sacrificing a calf and distributing its meat to the poor and needy.

The move aims to break the pattern of draws and secure victories in the upcoming matches, serving as a preventive measure against injuries after several players recently suffered setbacks.

This decision comes in response to the injuries that hit the ranks of the Pharaohs, specifically impacting the trio of Mohamed Salah, the national team captain, Mohamed El-Shennawy, the goalkeeper, and Imam Ashour, a midfielder for Al Ahly.

In a related context, the Egyptian national team delegation has moved to the city of San Pedro to face the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The match is scheduled for next Sunday at 10:00 PM at the Lorient-Bocou Stadium.

Imam Ashour, who was discharged from the hospital hours ago, was part of the delegation before traveling to San Pedro.

However, he won’t be among the participants in the match against the Democratic Republic of Congo due to a concussion.
