Nestory Irankunda: Watford and Australia winger linked with Celta Vigo move

Australia and Tanzania international Nestory Irankunda, currently at Watford, is being linked with a summer move to LaLiga side Celta de Vigo as the Spanish club explore wide attacking options.

The 20-year-old right winger, who joined Watford in July 2025, is under contract at Vicarage Road until June 2030, meaning any deal is likely to require a significant fee. Irankunda is valued at around €10 million, a figure that provides an early benchmark for negotiations as Celta assess whether to formalise their interest.

Irankunda has already accumulated notable senior experience for his age, with 40 Championship appearances for Watford and a further spell in the Swiss Super League earlier in his career. His role at Watford has included regular league action and domestic cup outings, underlining the club’s investment in his development after securing him on a long-term deal.

On the international stage, Irankunda has recently featured at the 2026 World Cup, making four appearances and scoring once, further raising his profile in European scouting circles. He first came to wider attention as top scorer in AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifying in 2022–23, when he hit eight goals in that campaign.

Watford’s firm contractual position means they are under no immediate pressure to sell, and Celta are yet to move beyond initial interest as they weigh up their summer priorities. For now, Irankunda remains tied to Watford until 2030, giving the Championship club strong leverage in any prospective talks.
