Nelson Semedo: Fenerbahce and Portugal full-back linked with Al-Ahli move

Portugal international Nelson Semedo is being linked with a move from Fenerbahce to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli as the 32-year-old contemplates the next step in a decorated career. The right-back, who also holds Cape Verdean nationality, is under contract in Istanbul until 30 June 2027 but is attracting interest from Jeddah after a season in Turkish football.

Semedo joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer from Wolves in July 2025 and has since added Super Lig and domestic cup minutes to an extensive top-flight resume across Europe. His current market valuation stands at about 6m, a figure that would make him a relatively low-cost option for Al-Ahli as they continue to target experienced European-based players.

The defender has amassed 165 Premier League appearances, plus 82 outings in LaLiga and 35 in the Champions League, underlining the level of competition in which he has operated. At international level, he was part of Portugals squad at the 2026 World Cup and has twice lifted the UEFA Nations League title with his country, most recently in 2025.

Semedo arrived at Fenerbahce with a reputation forged at Benfica, Barcelona and Wolves, and his move to Turkey was seen as an opportunity to anchor a defence competing domestically and in Europe. Any agreement with Al-Ahli would therefore require Fenerbahce to weigh the value of a fee now against keeping an experienced starter tied down for another year under his present deal.
