South Africa can breathe a sigh of relief as former President Nelson Mandela, at 94 years old, has been discharged from the Pretoria hospital and returned home. Mandela was admitted for more than two weeks to receive treatment for a lung infection. The statement announced that he would continue to receive home care until he fully recovers. Mandela, a key figure in the fight against racial discrimination in South Africa, spent 27 years in prison and served as President from 1994 to 1999. Known as a football enthusiast, Mandela may have the opportunity to follow the CAN matches from the comfort of his home and possibly attend the grand final.
