Neji Jouini is reportedly close to returning to Tunisia's National Arbitration Directorate

Neji Jouini is reportedly close to returning to the National Arbitration Directorate after reaching an agreement in principle with the Tunisian Football Federation to become its general supervisor.

Jouini is expected to take over the role previously held by Algerian referee Djamel Haimoudi, who recently resigned from the position.

The reported agreement would bring Jouini back into a role he has already occupied, although several details still have to be resolved before the appointment can be officially confirmed.

The Tunisian Football Federation has yet to complete the process, with outstanding matters still to be settled between the two sides.

Until those details are finalized, Jouini’s return remains subject to the completion of the agreement.

Jouini set to succeed Haimoudi

The proposed appointment follows Haimoudi’s departure from the National Arbitration Directorate.

Jouini is expected to succeed the Algerian in the position of general supervisor, marking a change at the head of the body responsible for the national refereeing structure.

Although an agreement in principle has reportedly been reached, the final steps remain.

The Tunisian Football Federation and Jouini still need to settle some details before the arrangement can be formally completed.

That means an official announcement is still pending.

A return to a familiar position

For Jouini, taking the position again would represent a return to a role he previously held.

He was already in charge of the position in 2024 before deciding to leave after submitting his resignation.

His possible return would therefore mark another chapter in his involvement with Tunisia’s National Arbitration Directorate.

The circumstances surrounding the potential appointment come after Haimoudi’s recent resignation, creating the opening that Jouini is now reportedly in line to fill.

For now, the agreement remains at the principle stage, with the remaining details still to be resolved.

If those matters are settled, Jouini would return to the National Arbitration Directorate as its general supervisor.

The Tunisian Football Federation is therefore yet to finalize the appointment, but the reported agreement in principle puts Jouini close to making his return to the position he previously occupied.

His possible comeback would complete a return to the directorate two years after he left the role.
