Nduka Junior, the Nigerian centre-back currently with Iraqi side Al-Najaf FC, is being linked with a move to Algerian top-flight club MC Algiers as the North African side assess defensive options for the new campaign.

The 22-year-old, born in Lagos and standing at 1.81m, only joined Al-Najaf in January 2026 but has already attracted interest from elsewhere in the region. MC Algiers are understood to be monitoring his situation closely as they look to strengthen their back line ahead of the forthcoming Ligue 1 season.

Junior’s emergence on the radar of a leading Algerian club comes against the backdrop of his rapid rise over the past two years. A right-footed central defender, he was part of the Remo Stars FC squad that claimed the Nigerian championship in the 2024-25 season, an achievement that helped elevate his profile before his subsequent move to Iraq.

His current market valuation is around €150,000, a figure that would make any potential deal relatively accessible for MC Algiers should they decide to formalise their interest. That fee level also underlines why clubs in stronger African leagues may view him as a cost-effective option.

Junior’s contract length at Al-Najaf has not been made public, but the Iraqi club would be expected to seek a fee if MC Algiers push ahead with a transfer.
