Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has become a new investor in Atletico de Madrid, strengthening his association with the Spanish club.
The NBA player has joined Atletico de Madrid’s ownership group, the club announced. Gilgeous-Alexander had already worn the club’s shirt before the move was officially confirmed.
“I am excited to officially join the shareholders’ group at Atletico de Madrid,” Gilgeous-Alexander said on the club’s official website.
“It is a historic club with a long tradition at the top of European football, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of its future.”
Gilgeous-Alexander has won the NBA Most Valuable Player award in each of the past two seasons.
Atletico de Madrid are second in the La Liga table with 16 points, ahead of Real Betis on goal difference.
