Nayef Aguerd transfer rumour: Al-Sadd interested in Marseille defender
Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd is the subject of a reported transfer link between Marseille and Qatari club Al-Sadd.
The 30-year-old centre-back joined Marseille from West Ham United on 1 September 2025 in a €23m move and is now being linked with a switch to the Stars League.
Aguerd’s current market value is listed at €15m, while his contract with Marseille runs until 30 June 2030. The available information does not indicate whether Al-Sadd have made a formal offer or whether Marseille are prepared to consider a sale.
The left-footed defender has made 107 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 10 goals, and has also played in the Premier League, La Liga and European competitions during his career.
Aguerd began his senior career in Morocco with FUS Rabat before moving to France, where he played for Dijon and Rennes. He joined West Ham from Rennes in 2022 for €35m and helped the English club win the Conference League in the 2022-23 season.
At international level, Aguerd was part of Morocco’s Africa Cup-winning team in 2025. He also won the African Nations Championship with Morocco in 2018.
For now, Aguerd remains contracted to Marseille until 2030, with Al-Sadd’s reported interest the latest development surrounding his future.
