Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd will miss Olympique Marseille’s round of 16 French Cup encounter against Stade Rennais on Tuesday after picking up an injury setback.
French media reports indicate that the defender experienced discomfort in recent days, which forced him to sit out the team’s final training session. As a precaution, Marseille’s technical staff decided to leave him out of the matchday squad to avoid any risk of aggravating the issue.
Aguerd has been a key figure in Marseille’s defensive line this season, making his absence a notable blow as the club looks to progress further in the competition.
Rennes, meanwhile, will have Moroccan representation of their own, with Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal in the squad alongside Yasser Zoubiry, who officially completed his move to the club on Monday.
The French Cup tie between Marseille and Rennes is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday at 9:10 pm, with both sides aiming to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
