National Bank booked a spot in the semi-finals of the Capital of Egypt Cup with a narrow but decisive 1-0 win over Modern Sport on Tuesday night at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.
The victory confirmed their dominance after a 2-0 first-leg win.
The game’s only goal came early, with Osama Faisal finding the net in the 17th minute. His strike proved enough to send National Bank, coached by Tarek Mostafa, into the final four of the competition.
Modern Sport struggled to break through a well-organized defense and could not overturn the deficit. The result was a clear message that National Bank are not just competing—they are determined to go all the way.
In another quarter-final clash, Ismaily edged Tala’a Al Gaish 5-4 on penalties at the Military Sports Authority Stadium after both legs ended without goals. Coach Tamer Mostafa’s men held their nerve in the shootout to advance.
National Bank now shift focus to a tough league fixture against Al Masry, scheduled for May 25.
