National Bank of Egypt continue resurgence with victory over Ghazl El Mahalla

National Bank of Egypt continued their revival in the Egyptian Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla, securing a second successive win in a match played in the absence of manager Ayman Al-Ramadi.

Ayman Al-Ramadi was taken to hospital after suffering a health problem on Saturday morning. His condition later stabilised following a medical procedure to insert a heart stent.

Assistant manager Assem Salah took charge of National Bank of Egypt for the fourth-round fixture, as the side built on their previous victory against Petrojet.

Osama Faisal marked his return from injury by scoring twice, while Ahmed Yasser Rayan also found the net. Abdo Yehia scored Ghazl El Mahalla’s only goal.

The result moved National Bank of Egypt up to six points and ninth place in the table. Ghazl El Mahalla remain without a win this season, with one draw and three defeats leaving them on one point at the bottom of the standings.

Faisal gave National Bank of Egypt the lead in the 16th minute, rising to meet a cross from Yaw Annor and producing an excellent header.

The advantage was doubled 15 minutes later when Rayan headed in from Ahmed Meteb’s delivery.

Ghazl El Mahalla reduced the deficit shortly before half-time. Abdo Yehia directed a well-executed header into the net in the 44th minute to give his side renewed hope.

National Bank of Egypt restored their two-goal lead three minutes after the interval. Faisal completed his brace in the 48th minute with a finish from inside the penalty area.

The goals represented a significant return to form for Faisal, who was making his first appearance of the season after recovering from injury. They also ended a wait of 568 days since his previous double, which came against Smouha during the 2024-2025 season.

National Bank of Egypt’s back-to-back victories represent a sharp improvement after their earlier results, while Ghazl El Mahalla’s difficult start continued. The home side have now played four league matches without recording a victory.

With Al-Ramadi recovering after his heart procedure, Salah guided the team to another important result and helped National Bank of Egypt maintain their momentum in the Egyptian Premier League.
