National Bank deny negotiations with Al Ahly for Mahmoud Al-Gazzar and Ali Hamdi

National Bank president Ashraf Nassar has denied reports that Egyptian giants Al Ahly are negotiating to sign Mahmoud Al-Gazzar and Ali Hamdi during the upcoming transfer window.

Nassar insisted that there have been no talks between the two clubs regarding either player, while stressing that the relationship between Al Ahly and Al Ahly Bank remains strong despite reports of tension over transfer dealings.

“There are no negotiations, near or far, with Al-Ahly to sign Ali Hamdi or Mahmoud Al-Jazzar, and everything that has been reported in the media is incorrect,” Nassar said in comments to Mega FM.

The Al Ahly Bank president also dismissed suggestions that relations between the two clubs had deteriorated, highlighting his personal relationship with Al Ahly president Mahmoud Al Khatib and the club’s board.

“Our relationship with Al-Ahly is very good, contrary to what is being said about there being tension between the two clubs. My personal relationship with Al-Khatib is as good as it can be, as is my relationship with the rest of the board members at Al-Ahly, but every club looks after its own interests,” he added.

Nassar, however, indicated that Al Ahly Bank would consider suitable offers for their players if the terms were beneficial to both the club and the individual.

“We will not stand in the way of any player who receives an offer that suits Al Ahly Bank and suits the player, and in the end we look at the interest of the club,” he concluded.

The reports of Al Ahly’s interest in the duo emerged amid the club’s need to strengthen its defence following Amr El Gazzar’s serious knee injury.

Al Ahly are expected to assess their options ahead of the upcoming transfer window, but Nassar’s comments make it clear that there are currently no negotiations with Al Ahly Bank for Mahmoud Al-Gazzar or Ali Hamdi.
