Nathan Ngoumou set for OGC Nice medical ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach exit

Nathan Ngoumou is expected to complete his move to OGC Nice after undergoing a medical on Monday, according to reports.

Kicker and Sky Sports, citing French newspaper L’Equipe, say the Cameroon winger is close to joining the Ligue 1 club and should sign his contract after completing the required medical checks.

The transfer is expected to be completed without OGC Nice paying a fee to Borussia Monchengladbach, despite Ngoumou still having one year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga side.

However, Borussia Monchengladbach have reportedly negotiated a 10% sell-on clause. That agreement would give the German club a share of any future transfer fee received by OGC Nice if Ngoumou is sold on.

The proposed move would bring an end to Ngoumou’s time at Borussia Monchengladbach, where he has spent the past three seasons after joining from Toulouse in 2022.

The 25-year-old has made 71 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring eight goals during his time in Germany. His performances have also earned him international recognition with Cameroon, for whom he has won two caps.

Ngoumou’s next destination is expected to be OGC Nice, with the medical and contract signing the remaining steps before the transfer can be officially confirmed.

Nice secured their position in Ligue 1 at the end of last season by beating Saint-Etienne in the relegation play-off. The club’s reported move for Ngoumou comes as it prepares for another campaign in France’s top flight.

For Borussia Monchengladbach, the agreement would allow Ngoumou to leave without an immediate transfer payment, while retaining the possibility of receiving money from a future sale. For OGC Nice, the deal would bring in a Cameroon international with Bundesliga experience without the requirement for an upfront fee.

No official confirmation of the transfer has yet been announced by either club, but the reports indicate that the move is close to completion. Ngoumou’s medical on Monday is expected to precede the formal signing of his OGC Nice contract.
