Borussia Mönchengladbach winger Nathan Ngoumou has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg, the club confirmed on Monday.
The 25-year-old Frenchman sustained the injury during training, delivering a significant blow to Mönchengladbach’s campaign as they approach the final stretch of the Bundesliga season.
The club announced the news in a short but heartfelt message on social media: “Get well soon, Nathan.”
Ngoumou, who joined the German side in 2022, has been a steady contributor in the 2024–2025 campaign.
Across all competitions, he featured in 21 matches, scoring twice and registering one assist.
Though not always in the spotlight, his pace and direct style of play have often provided an attacking edge in Mönchengladbach’s build-up and counter-attacking efforts.
This injury not only halts Ngoumou’s momentum but also weakens the squad’s depth during a critical part of the season.
Mönchengladbach, currently positioned in mid-table, have relied on the winger’s versatility and work rate on both flanks.
His absence is expected to leave a notable gap in the side’s attacking options, especially given his ability to stretch defences and create space for his teammates.
While the timing is unfortunate, there remains optimism surrounding the player’s long-term outlook.

At 25, Ngoumou is still entering the prime of his career and is expected to undergo surgery followed by an extensive rehabilitation programme.
His recovery will be closely monitored by the club’s medical staff, with a view to reintroducing him ahead of the next campaign.
Ngoumou’s injury comes amid an already challenging season for Mönchengladbach, who have struggled with consistency and now face additional pressure to finish strongly without one of their key attacking figures.
The club’s public show of support reflects the regard in which the French winger is held, both for his contributions on the pitch and his presence within the dressing room.
As the team pushes on without him, attention now turns to Ngoumou’s recovery journey.
The club and supporters alike will be hoping for a full and timely return from a setback that, while serious, is not expected to define the promising career of the French international.
