Nathan de Medina: Belgian-DR Congo defender joins Wurzburger Kickers on free transfer
Belgian-DR Congo centre-back Nathan de Medina has joined German side Wurzburger Kickers on a free transfer from Olympic Charleroi. The 28-year-old, who stands at 1.83m and plays predominantly as a right-footed central defender, makes the switch to the 3. Liga club with an estimated market value of 150,000.
De Medina moves to Wurzburg after a short spell at Belgian outfit Olympic Charleroi, whom he joined midway through the 2025-26 season following a period without a club. His arrival strengthens the defensive options for the Bavarian team as they prepare for the new campaign in Germanys third tier.
Born in Brussels, de Medina has accumulated experience across several European leagues. He previously featured in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga with Arminia Bielefeld and Eintracht Braunschweig, making more than 50 league appearances in Germanys top two divisions. Earlier in his career he also played in the Belgian top flight, the Jupiler Pro League, notably with Mouscron after coming through the ranks at RSC Anderlecht.
De Medinas time at the highest level has included appearances in domestic cups and European qualifying rounds, as well as regular game time in Belgiums second tier and youth competitions. Across league campaigns in Belgium and Germany, he has surpassed 100 senior competitive appearances, contributing a handful of goals from defence.
The move, completed on 11 July 2026, sees de Medina leave Olympic Charleroi on a permanent basis to continue his career with Wurzburger Kickers in the 3. Liga.
