In the meantime, former French footballer Jérémy Berthod humorously ridiculed Atanes’ initial remarks, adding fuel to the fire. His playful response further highlighted the drama surrounding the incident.
While Atanes has since apologized, the episode has not done Nasri any favors in terms of his potential return to the French national team. Given the sensitive nature of the incident, it seems unlikely that it will help mend any rifts between the player and the national team setup under Deschamps.
