Nasiru Jibrin: Nigeria midfielder joins Barau FC on free transfer from Wikki Tourists

Nigeria attacking midfielder Nasiru Jibrin has joined Barau FC on a free transfer from Wikki Tourists. The 24-year-old switches clubs within the Nigerian football pyramid after his deal with the Bauchi side came to an end.

Jibrin, who plays primarily as an attacking midfielder and favours his right foot, links up with Barau FC with an estimated market value of €50,000. The move keeps him in familiar surroundings, with Barau competing in the Nigerian Professional Football League.

He arrives after a spell at Wikki Tourists that began in 2023, having previously played for FC One Rocket. Jibrin rejoined Wikki Tourists in that move following an earlier stint at the club earlier in his career.

Across his time in the Nigerian top flight, Jibrin has made 56 league appearances, scoring seven goals and providing two assists, averaging a goal roughly every 355 minutes. He has also featured briefly in a second division campaign and in domestic cup action, adding further competitive experience to his profile.

Jibrin’s career has taken in several Nigerian clubs, including Katsina United and Akwa United, as well as a spell in Denmark with Jammerbugt FC. His most notable honour to date is a Nigerian league title with Akwa United in the 2020-21 season.

Barau FC have not disclosed contract details, but Jibrin’s arrival adds proven NPFL experience to their midfield options as preparations continue for the new campaign.
