Napoli push to retain André-Frank Zambo Anguissa

Napoli are stepping up efforts to retain Cameroon midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, with new coach Massimiliano Allegri keen for the player to remain at the club beyond the end of his current contract.

Anguissa had previously been considering a departure following a difficult season, but Allegri’s arrival appears to have changed the situation. The Italian manager is pushing for the midfielder to continue as part of his plans.

The issue has gained momentum during Napoli’s training camp in Castel di Sangro. Anguissa’s representative, Maxime Nana, was seen with a representative of Allegri, a meeting that could signal the reopening of negotiations over a new agreement.

Talks over the Cameroonian’s future had appeared uncertain, particularly after his desire to leave. However, his performances during pre-season have given Napoli further reason to try to reach an agreement.

Allegri has been impressed by Anguissa’s contribution during the opening weeks of preparations and considers the experienced midfielder an important player for his squad.

The coach’s stance has consequently increased the pressure on Napoli to find a solution. The club now faces the task of presenting an offer capable of persuading Anguissa and his representatives to continue their relationship.

The final decision will ultimately involve Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is expected to determine whether the club is prepared to improve its proposal and meet the midfielder’s expectations.

For Napoli, keeping Anguissa would preserve a player who has attracted strong support from the new coaching staff. For the midfielder, meanwhile, the change in circumstances could provide a reason to reconsider his earlier intention to leave.

The presence of his agent at the Castel di Sangro camp has added to speculation that discussions could soon resume. With Allegri making his position clear, Napoli’s priority is now to find an agreement that would keep the Cameroon international at the club.

The coming discussions will therefore be crucial in determining whether Anguissa continues his career in Naples or moves on when his current contract reaches its conclusion.
