Napoli tensions grow as Romelu Lukaku skips training amid Anderlecht links

Napoli are prepared to fine Romelu Lukaku if he continues to miss club training while completing his recovery work with Belgium’s national team staff.

According to Sky Sports Italia, the Serie A side has ordered the striker to return to Naples immediately so he can be monitored by their own medical and fitness departments.

Club officials believe working in-house is the quickest route to getting Lukaku back to full fitness, especially as Napoli chase key objectives in the run-in. If he does not report back soon, the board is ready to impose financial penalties and could even leave him out of the matchday squad until the situation is clarified.

The dispute has only intensified speculation over the Belgian’s long-term future. Reports in Belgium now suggest the former Chelsea forward is increasingly likely to return home in the summer and sign for boyhood club Anderlecht, raising the prospect that his Napoli spell could end on a sour note.
