Napoli, Marseille and Bournemouth battle for Germany-Nigerian goalkeeper Noah Atubolu

Germany goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is edging closer to leaving Freiburg, with three clubs from Europe’s top leagues reportedly submitting concrete offers for the 24-year-old.

According to kicker and Bild, Atubolu and his representatives have received formal proposals from French side Olympique Marseille, Italian club Napoli and Premier League outfit Bournemouth.

The goalkeeper’s future is increasingly uncertain with his Freiburg contract set to expire next year and the Bundesliga club having already brought in Mio Backhaus as a potential replacement.

Napoli and Marseille offer starting role

Marseille and Napoli are reportedly prepared to hand Atubolu the number one position should he move to either France or Italy.

That prospect could prove significant as the Germany international considers the next stage of his career, with both clubs offering him the opportunity to establish himself as their first-choice goalkeeper.

Atubolu’s representatives have already travelled to Naples for direct negotiations with Napoli, underlining the seriousness of the Italian club’s interest.

Bournemouth propose goalkeeper competition

Bournemouth are also firmly in the race but have taken a different approach.

The Premier League club, managed by German coach Marco Rose, are reportedly offering Atubolu the chance to compete for the starting position with current number one Đorđe Petrović rather than guaranteeing him the role.

That could make the English option a different proposition for the Freiburg goalkeeper, who must now weigh up playing opportunities alongside the appeal of moving to the Premier League.

Juventus remain interested

While Marseille, Napoli and Bournemouth have made concrete approaches, Juventus continue to monitor the situation.

The Turin giants have not yet emerged as strongly as the three clubs that have submitted offers, but remain attentive to developments surrounding the goalkeeper.

Freiburg are reportedly seeking between €15m and €20m for Atubolu, with the club in a strong position to negotiate a transfer fee despite his contract expiring next summer.

With three serious offers now on the table and a successor already identified, Atubolu’s departure from Freiburg appears increasingly likely this summer.
