Napoli extend captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s contract until 2030

Napoli have extended captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s contract until 2030, describing the Italy right-back as “blue for life” as he commits his future to the club.

Di Lorenzo’s previous agreement was due to expire in 2028, but Napoli have now added a further two years to the deal for the 33-year-old defender. The announcement underlines the importance of the captain to the club and ensures he will remain part of Napoli’s plans for the foreseeable future.

The right-back is currently in his eighth season wearing Napoli’s colours. Since joining from Empoli in the summer of 2019 for a reported fee of nine million euros, Di Lorenzo has become one of the most experienced and influential players in the southern Italian side’s history.

He has made 307 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, placing him 12th on the club’s list of players with the most appearances. His record includes 20 goals and 42 assists during his time with the club.

Di Lorenzo has also been part of a highly successful period for Napoli. He has won Serie A twice with the club, as well as one Italian Super Cup and one Coppa Italia.

The decision to renew his contract extends a relationship that began when he arrived from Empoli in 2019. Since then, he has established himself as a regular presence in the team and taken on the responsibility of leading Napoli as captain.

Napoli’s description of Di Lorenzo as “blue for life” reflects the status he has achieved at the club after more than 300 appearances. The new agreement means his current spell in Naples will continue beyond the end of his previous contract and keep him tied to Napoli until 2030.

His contribution has come not only through his defensive role but also through his attacking output. Twenty goals and 42 assists have formed part of his overall record for Napoli, adding to the importance of a player who has remained a constant figure during the club’s recent successes.

With the contract extension confirmed, Di Lorenzo will continue to add to his appearance tally and seek to move higher on Napoli’s all-time list. For the club, securing the future of their captain represents the retention of a player who has already played 307 matches in every competition and helped deliver four major honours.

Napoli have therefore chosen to preserve the leadership and experience of a defender who has been with the club since the summer of 2019. Di Lorenzo’s new deal will keep him at Napoli through 2030, reinforcing the message that his long-term future remains in Naples.
